Royds Visit to West Smithfield Lodge
On 19th September 2024, West Smithfield Lodge No. 1623 held their installation ceremony at Freemason’s hall. The outgoing worshipful master was Brother Russell Kinson, who joined as a member of Royds Lodge earlier this year. To support brother Kinson in this important lodge meeting, brothers Tony Underhill, Martin Kent and Ben Murphy made the journey to London to attend as visitors.
This was the first visit to London’s Freemasons Hall for Ben and Martin, so the team arrived early in order to have a nose at the shop and the museum. They were also able to have a look in the Grand Hall, where Grand Lodge holds their meetings, a very impressive sight for those who haven’t experienced it before!
The meeting was held in Lodge Room no. 9 (there are 20 in the whole building!), a beautifully adorned, medium-sized temple room that was perfectly sized for the lodge. After an excellent performance all-round by the brethren of West Smithfield, all retired to the nearby Connaught Rooms for food and wine at the festive board.
An excellent evening was had by all, and Royds Lodge congratulates Brother Russell Kinson on his successful tenure as master of West Smithfield. We are all now looking forward to benefiting from his wisdom and experience at our own lodge in the more modest climes of Worcestershire!
